Banks yearly issue approximately 6 billion plastic credit cards made of plastic. They carry a substantial carbon footprint and end up in landfills and water bodies as soon as they expire. To ensure a more sustainable way to make transactions, Bank Nizwa has recently launched PLA or Polylactic Acid Credit Cards.
They are biodegradable plastic cards which makes them easy to recycle, they are chlorine-free, and non-toxic when burned. PLA is a bio-based plastic made from corn, plant leaves, and other renewable sources.
